What is scale


Lime scale is the deposits left behind by hard water and it is mainly made up of calcium and magnesium. The lime scale deposits mixed with soap leaves a ring of scum around the bath or sink, build ups around taps, marks shower cubicles and clings to hair and clogs skin pores. Soaps and detergents are also less effective with hard water. The unseen damage is just as bad, clogged pipes and showerheads, deposits in water heaters and water using appliances makes them inefficient and increases maintenance.

There are many lime scale removers that you can buy in supermarkets, but water treatment is one of the most effective ways of dealing with lime scale in the water. The only effective water treatment product that will actually remove the lime scale from the water is an ion-exchange water softener.
